Chester Burger NYPL Stereo Slide Catalog- about 1549 pages long…

This past weekend both Carlos and I visited the Chester Burger Stereo Slide collection, which is split between the NYPL and NYHS.

I have found no documentation or reports on the collection barring the single Stereo World article published in 1991 at the time the collections were donated.

Carlos visited the NYHS on Friday, I visited the NYPL on Saturday and we are meeting tomorrow to discuss everything from what we saw, to our personal experiences, to archiving & orginizational differences etc.

We of course will be reporting back on our findings and promoting this amazing massive tome of 3D & World history in every respect we can, in the meantime I am sharing here a link my wonderful archivist Zulay sent me, which is the CATALOG OF STEREO SLIDE IMAGES HOUSED IN THE NYPL.

This is the first time either one of us have been able to unearth a catalog listing of what is archived. It is 1550 pages long and it is INCREDIBLE.

Zulay also sent me this PDF on his work and career if you want a quick intro to who Chester burger was,

She also linked me to this resource, a dissertation on stereographs, Canvassed and Delivered: Direct Selling at Keystone View Company, 1898-1910 by Leigh Gleason.

👏👏👏👏👏 I want to thank my incredible and informative archivist/librarian at the NYPL, Zulay, for all her efforts. We seem to have completely different experiences every time we research this collection, it is very much hinged on the archivist on staff at the time of your visit… I learned more in this single visit then from all of Carlos’s and my visits combined, a great archivist makes ALL the difference 👏👏👏👏👏 thank you
