David Starkman & Susan Pinsky of the LA 3-D Club have been slowly scanning stereo camera manuals and other 3-D resources for years and years and years.
They used to own a mail-order & web based stereo camera & photography business called “Reel 3-D” which sold everything from stereo cameras, slide mounting supplies, viewmaster reels, 3-D viewing devices of all kinds & the like.
Reel 3-D was one of a handful of USA based sellers I used to buy slide mounting supplies and stereo realist camera accessories from when I first started out in stereo over twenty years ago, the other sellers being Rocky Mountain, Berezin, & Dr T & Ron Labbe on eBay. I was juuuuust a little too late in the game to have missed Jon Golden (but he and I are of course very friendly as well and has given me most of my RBT mounts).
Long story short, David and I were corresponding through email today and I’m VERY TRULY THRILLED AND SUPER DUPER THANKFUL TO ANNOUNCE HE HAS SHARED WITH US A COMPENDIUM OF MANUALS & RESOURCES THAT THEY HAVE BEEN SCANNING BY HAND THROUGHOUT THE YEARS THAT WILL NOW BECOME AVAILABLE TO ALL ON OUR NEW RESOURCES PAGE THAT I WILL BE CREATING ON SUNDAY, JULY 17!
I will make another post to announce its completion, it may take me a few days to populate it in its entirety, the file he sent me has over 179 resources scanned and saved over the years!
Here is a Stereoscopic YouTube video -in SBS PARALLEL FORMAT- of David and Susan showing me their Vectograph and Stereojet collection that I took while visiting them in California a few years ago. THESE ARE THE WONDERFUL FRIENDS WE HAVE TO THANK FOR THEIR CONTINUED EFFORTS TO PROPAGATE & POPULARIZE 3-D and for their tireless efforts to preserve our collective histories.
THANK YOU DAVID & SUSAN, from the bottom of our hearts ❤️💙❤️💙
Just a side note, a version of Pseudograms, called SuDagraphs, which is the stereo format I discovered, identified, defined & categorized, were named in honor of these two folks right here 🙂 I wanted to thank them for their efforts and unite them together forever in 3D by naming the format after them.
SuDagraphs are named for Susan Pinsky & David Starkman (SuDa, get it??)
Here is a link to the video I presented to the VSC GLOBAL CLUB on Single Image Stereoscopic Auto-Pseudograms for anyone interested in seeing that 🙂
